Course Curriculum — Step by Step

Module 1: Foundations (Weeks 1–4)

Arabic letter recognition and pronunciation. Introduction to Tajweed terminology. Makharij al-Huruf — learning exactly where each sound originates in the mouth and throat. Practice with short Surahs from Juz Amma.

Module 2: Core Tajweed Rules (Weeks 5–10)

Noon Sakinah and Tanween rules in detail. Meem Sakinah rules. Introduction to Madd (elongation) — natural, connected, and separated Madd. Shaddah and its impact on recitation. Regular practice reading from the Quran with teacher correction.

Module 3: Advanced Rules (Weeks 11–16)

All Madd types with precise timing measurement. Qalqalah rules and practice. Laam Shamsiyyah and Laam Qamariyyah. Waqf rules — compulsory, permissible, and prohibited stopping points. Reading longer Surahs with full Tajweed application.

Module 4: Applied Recitation (Weeks 17–20)

Continuous recitation review with teacher feedback. Common mistake correction. Introduction to the two primary recitation styles: Hafs and Warsh. Final assessment — recitation of selected Surahs with full Tajweed. Certificate awarded upon successful completion.

How long does it take to learn Tajweed?

With 2–3 classes per week, most students complete the full Tajweed course in approximately 5 months. Students who take 4–5 classes per week can finish in 3 months. The timeline depends on your current level, practice consistency, and chosen class frequency.

Can adults learn Tajweed online?

Absolutely. Many of our most successful students are adults who never formally studied Tajweed. One-on-one online classes are actually ideal for adults because sessions are private, flexible, and paced to your schedule — no pressure, no classroom setting.

Do I need any prior knowledge to join this course?

You should be able to read Arabic letters before starting the Tajweed course. If you cannot yet read Arabic, we recommend our Noorani Qaida course first. If you are unsure about your level, take our free trial class and your teacher will assess your starting point.

What app or platform do the online classes use?

Classes are conducted via Zoom or Skype — both free and easy to use on any phone, tablet, or computer. No special equipment is needed beyond a stable internet connection and a microphone.

Is Tajweed necessary for Hifz (memorization)?

Yes — Tajweed is the foundation of Hifz. Memorizing the Quran without Tajweed can mean memorizing incorrect pronunciation, which is very difficult to correct later. We always recommend completing the Tajweed course before or alongside starting Hifz.

How is progress measured?

Your teacher conducts regular recitation reviews at the end of each module. You receive written progress reports showing which rules you have mastered and which need further practice. A final assessment is conducted before your completion certificate is issued.

Can I change my teacher if I am not satisfied?

Yes. We want every student to feel comfortable and make progress. If you feel a different teaching style would suit you better, simply let us know and we will arrange a new teacher at no extra cost.
